Projecting Signs

Projecting signs extend out from a building at a right angle, making them instantly visible to pedestrians and passing traffic. They work especially well in areas where flat fascias can get lost among neighbouring businesses. By standing outwards, they guide people directly to your entrance and create a strong sense of presence on the street.

At Benson Signs, we’ve been manufacturing and installing projecting signs for over 55 years. Based in Liverpool, we design and produce signs for retailers, restaurants, pubs, hotels, and offices across the UK. Every sign is built in-house using high-quality materials and finishes.

Projecting signage remains one of the most effective ways to attract attention on busy high streets and public walkways. With options for illuminated, non-illuminated and blade styles, there’s a format to suit every setting.

Compact panels

500 x 600 mm– best for arcades, narrow streets and smaller shops.

Mid-sized panels

600 x 800 mm – the most popular choice for retail and hospitality.

Larger panels

700 x 900 mm and above– effective for pubs, hotels and open high streets.

Depth ranges between 40–200 mm, depending on illumination and bracket choice. Mounting height is usually 2.4 m or higher for safe pedestrian clearance.

Custom shapes such as circles, ovals or logo outlines are also available.

Maintenance & Aftercare

Projecting signs are built to last, but proper care ensures they stay looking sharp:

  • Clean regularly with mild detergent to remove dirt and grime
  • Inspect brackets and fixings periodically for safety
  • Refresh vinyl graphics or finishes when branding changes
  • Service LEDs for illuminated versions to maintain brightness

We also provide refurbishment, including repainting, repairs and LED retrofits, so your sign continues to perform for years.

  • Full-colour UV digital printing for sharp detail and fade resistance
  • Vinyl overlays for lettering, logos and simple branding
Powder coating and wet-spraying for consistent RAL colour matching
  • Anti-graffiti and UV laminates for sites exposed to heavy use

All panels and brackets are manufactured in our Liverpool facility. With CNC routing, digital printing, paint booths and metalwork in-house, we control every detail.

Frequently Ask Questions

What are projecting signs?

They are signs mounted at a right angle to a wall, designed to be visible to people approaching from both directions

Illuminated versions have built-in LEDs, making them effective at night or in low-light areas. Non-illuminated signs are more cost-effective and ideal for sites with good ambient lighting.

They maximise visibility in crowded streets. They also require minimal fascia space and can be designed to suit almost any brand style.

They’re popular on high streets, shopping centres, pubs, cafes, salons, hotels, offices, visitor attractions and public buildings.
